Thailand, Ko Tao 2

The phone saga continues and I didn't post for the last two days because I was waiting!! The phone started working again. So I thought the sun was shining on me and my phone and my luck!  I got a motorbike to explore the island's beaches as planned and got stuck in. Very, very hot again. The roads (misnomer!) were worse than the worst parts of the eastern european roads I experienced!! Some basic concrete infrastructure but a lot of dirt track to negotiate to get to most beaches as well, which because they were dry makes for a lot of dust and grit (In saying that I don't think they would have been negotiable at all if they were wet!). And absolutely no road etiquette, with motorbikes fair hurtling all over the place. So it was necessary to concentrate quite hard.  That was all ok, as was the fact that access to virtually all of the beaches required a steep and sometimes lengthy descent. Which of course meant a steep and lengthy climb back up, in extremely humid conditions. It actually gave me a bit of exercise, so apart from being drenched with sweat for the whole day, I actually quite enjoyed it.  I found a viewpoint as well, which was also something of a hike but with great views of a couple of beautiful bays. So there I went, snapping away on my phone, until I literally got to the last beach I was due to visit. I made the descent, got onto the beach itself to take some snaps, and the bloody phone packed in again. And could I get it to work!!!! Nonetheless a good day on an island which boasts some very lovely beaches. I also think I'm getting into the way of things in Thailand. I mean the scruffy bit. Because there it was again! But it's starting to wash over me a bit now. That's Thailand to date and that's the way it is. Get over it Glen!! So the reason for not blogging more about my only full day on Ko Tao was because I was waiting to see if the phone would kick in again so I could post some pictures as well. No such luck! There ends the saga of the phone this trip. Mind, there's a long way to go yet!!  Next stop, Bangkok!!
